Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services visits the Premier of the Northern Cape to discuss broadband rollout in the province

Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services Dr Siyabonga Cwele will be visiting Northern Cape Premier Ms Sylia Lucas on 20 June 2016 to discuss Government’s plan to connect all government buildings and facility to fast, reliable and secure internet.

The visit will include going to some of the government buildings in the Pixley KaSeme District Municipality that have been earmarked to be connected to broadband or fast internet. One of these facilities is the Hopetown Post Office, where Minister Cwele will conduct an inspection and send a parcel.

On 21 June 2016, the Minister will hand-over a computer lab to the Veritas High School in De Aar.

Members of the media are invited to a media briefing with the Minister and the Premier.

Mrs SA Finalist meets Premier S Lucas

The Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms Sylvia Lucas, recently met with Ms Lizzy Staffa, who is one of the 24 finalists that made it in the Mrs South Africa competition. Ms Staffa who hails from Kimberley made it from 55 hopefuls to be part of the final 24 that will compete for the crown on 08 August 2014.

Ministirial Brics Roadshow

President CM Ramaphosa is hosting the 10th BRICS Summit from in Johannesburg from 25 – 27 July 2018.
The first BRICS summit took place in 2009 in the Russian Federation. South Africa was invited in December 2010 to join BRICS, former President JG Zuma attended the BRICS summit in March 2011 hosted by China.

South Africa’s membership of the BRICS forum has become a vital element if its global economic strategy and is viewed as a catalyst and enabling tool for pursuit and achievement of South Africa’s foreign policy priorities including the promotion of the African agenda, global reforms and South to South cooperation.

As part of the effort to promote BRICS in South Africa, Ministerial Road show was held in all provinces. The Northern Cape held their event on 19 July 2018 in Upington. The ministerial roadshow was addressed by Minister for Telecommunication and Postal Services Dr Siyabonga Cwele and Premier Sylvia Lucas.

The purpose of the BRICS Ministerial Roadshows was to create awareness on the significance of South Africa’s participation in BRICS and to highlight and emphasise the message “ Building a Better Africa and a Better World” to communicate the South African Government political commitment to participate in the development of the continent.

The Northern Cape decided to host a stakeholder dialogue with all sectors in society. This dialogue focused on the role of the Northern Cape in BRICS and how the province stands to benefit. Leaders from civil society, organise labour, organise student formation, members of the provincial legislature, organise business, academia, traditional leader and government leaders was invited to this dialogue. This summit proved to be a highly successful and informative on opportunities presented by the 4th Industrial Revolution.

NEWLY ELECTED MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF THE NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT

For a strategic leadership structure, in assuring effective service delivery and attending to the needs of commuities - the Northern Cape Premier, Dr. Zamani Saul, has appointed two new MEC’s in order expand the capacity of achieving mandates and better progress in government's commitments to the public.

Mr. Mangaliso Matika has been appointed to Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, and Ms. Limakatso Koloi has been appointed to Department of Transport, Safety and Liason.

With their strong background an experience in government, it is indubitable that their addition will add vast value to our provincial government.
