Northern Cape Premier Launches Youth Employment Programme for 150 Students and Graduates

The Premier, Dr. Zamani Saul, accompanied by Members of the Executive Council, as well as the CEOs of SACGRA, FASSET and a representative of the merSETA launched the Northern Cape Youth Employment Programme.

This programme will benefit 150 Students and Graduates from all Districts in the province, who will be placed in Public and Private Sector Institutions. One such private sector employer is AFRISAM

The project includes disciplines such as Finance, Accounting, Marketing, IT, Engineering amongst others.

In welcoming the new interns, the Premier, thanked the sponsors, for their continued partnership with the Northern Cape Provincial Government and encouraged the young people to use this opportunity as a stepping stone towards their future.

Northern Cape Provincial Government Meets the Leadership of the Redstone Concentrated Solar Thermal Power(CSP) Plant

The Premier, Dr. Zamani Saul together with the MEC responsible for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Mr Abraham Vosloo, met with the CEO of ACWA Power and the Redstone CSP plant, Mr. Nandu Bula together with his team. 

The 100MW Redstone concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) plant, which forms part of the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer (REIPP) Procurement Program is South Africa's largest renewable energy project situated in Tsantsabane in the ZF Mgcawu District.

The meeting was convened to appraise Premier and the MEC on the milestones achieved on the construction of the project thus far, as well as share possible collaborative initiatives for the benefit of the local and surrounding communities in the Province.

As Provincial Government we remain committed to ensuring that through public-private partnerships such as these, we change the living conditions of the communities they operate in. 

Premier Dr. Zamani Saul will soon undertake a visit to the plant.

Northern Cape Provincial Government Launches The Bereka-Mosha Programme

The Premier, Dr. Zamani Saul, today, on behalf of the Northern Cape Provincial Government, officially launched the Bereka Mosha programme aimed at addressing the skills development and at creating employment in the Province. 

The programme has employed approximately 152 young graduates under the following Programmes:

Vota Ulutsha Brigade, a Programme of the Ministry of Youth, Women, People living with Disabilities, Communication and eGovernment.  These young people will assist the Provincial Government in successfully executing a one-year civic education drive that seeks to ensure that young people are registered and educated around the importance of voting;

In partnership with the Financial and Accounting Sector Education and Training Authority ( FASSET) about 50 young graduates will be placed at the Northern Cape Provincial Treasury for a skills development programme;

Through the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, 30 Library Assistants and 17 Sports coordinators are placed across the Province.

Premier Dr. Zamani Saul welcomed the young people to the Provincial Government and encouraged other young people to grab every opportunity created by Government.
