The Premier, Dr. Zamani Saul, together with MEC Fufe Makatong, officially launched the EPWP Academic Empowerment Programme in Upington, in the Z.F. Mgcawu District. The Launch marks a milestone for youth empowerment in the Northern Cape.

In attendance were Members of the Executive Council, the District and Local Mayors as well as key stakeholders.

In his keynote address, Premier Saul encouraged participants to seize this life-changing opportunity. He emphasised to them that we need young people to grab the opportunities that this programme presents completing matric or starting a business that creates jobs and strengthens our provincial economy.

MEC Makatong further urged community members, schools, and churches to make available public facilities for use as classrooms to ensure accessible training spaces for participants.

Ms. Yolanda Malatsi Engelsman, Chairperson of Disabled People South Africa (DPSA), highlighted the importance of inclusion, and ensuring that no one is left behind.

Together, government, communities, and partners are rewriting futures, one opportunity at a time.
