Financial Management

Responsible to ensure the proper management of financial resources. It facilitates compliance with financial accounting, budget management and supply chain reporting requirements and relevant legislation and prescripts.

To provide internal financial accounting, management accounting, Supply Chain Management (SCM) and asset management services to the Office of the Premier.

  • Financial accounting deals with the preparation and presentation of reports called financial statements. The financial statements present, results of operations, cash flows, and other information.

• To render Management Accounting Services
  • Involves the identification, generation, presentation, interpretation and use of relevant information to help managers run their organisations.
  • The facilitation and coordination of the departmental budgeting process

• To render asset management services
  • Asset management is a systematic process of managing utilisation, deploying, monitoring, maintaining, safeguarding, upgrading, and disposing of assets cost-effectively.

• The management of Supply Chain Management services (SCM)
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and prescribes on departmental procurement

Functions

• The facilitation, coordination and integration of the strategic planning process.
• The formulation of creative solutions to enhance cost effectiveness andefficiency;
• The compilation of the departmental budget and the Annual Report;
• Analysis of expenditure trends and patterns;
• Formulate creative solutions to enhance cost effectiveness and efficiencyin the delivery of service.
• Maintain a close relationship with the accounting officer by providing financial results and trends to ensure informed decision making e.g. SCOPA and AG enquiries.
