Trade and investment mission to United Arab Emirates, Dubai
The Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms Sylvia Lucas, will lead a delegation from the Province to a Trade and Investment Outbound Mission to the United Arab Emirates, Dubai to participate in the 7th Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) scheduled to take place from the 02- 04 April 2017. Ms Sylvia Lucas will be accompanied by Senior Politicians and Government Officials.
Her attendance of this engagement is based on an official invitation received from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, United Arab Emirates Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to participate in the 7th Annual Investment Meeting.
The Annual Investment meeting is the world's leading and most established gathering of the international investment community, leading academics and exports showcasing up to-date information, strategies and knowledge on attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
The province will be afforded an opportunity to discuss opportunities for economic growth and also showcase the respective trade and investment opportunities that are available in the Province.

The year kicks off progressively as the first phase of the Socio-Economic programme took place on the 27-31 January 2025, where traditional leaders from all parts of the Northern Cape came together. The Northern Cape province will be hosting the Opening games for the Under 19 International Cricket World Cup from 17thJanuary till 02 February 2020 at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley and teams were welcomed to the city at a welcoming function which took place on 15thJanuary 2020 at the Flamingo Casino.
The Northern Cape Department of Health has committed to appointing additional staff at the Groblershooop Community health Centre with the ultimate goal of transforming it into a 24-hour facility.
The current administration under the stewardship of President JZ Zuma made a profound commitment to the people of the Northern Cape that the main focus of this current term of the administration is to establish a university in the province. On Thursday 25 July 2013 the President announced the name of the university and the interim council. The university in the Northern Cape will be named Sol Plaatje University.
