Under 19 Cricket World Cup Welcoming Dinner

The Northern Cape province will be hosting the Opening games for the Under 19 International Cricket World Cup from 17thJanuary till 02 February 2020 at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley and teams were welcomed to the city at a welcoming function which took place on 15thJanuary 2020 at the Flamingo Casino.
“As a Provincial Government we commit to work together with the Griqualand West Cricket Board in developing disadvantaged schools and their learners to enable them to compete on an equal footing with the rest of their counterparts and peers. You will notice the huge numbers of school children that will attend to not only enjoy the beautiful game, but also to learn from it and to cultivate the love for the game.” Premier Dr Saul remarked.
He continued to say: “We hope that all teams enjoy their stay and that they are exposed to the true hospitality and friendliness of the people of the Northern Cape.”

WOMEN’S DAY WOMEN MANYANO IN POFADDER

Minister Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga, responsible for the Department of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) in collaboration with the District Mayor, Mr Mervin Cloete, SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola and the MEC for the Northern Cape Department of Social Development, Sport, Arts and Culture, Youth, Women, People Living with Disabilities, Ms Nontobeko Vilakazi delivered a compelling address  at the Women’s Manyano gathering held in Pofadder, Northern Cape.

 The Minister highlighted the importance of economic empowerment and spiritual unity in advancing the role of women in society.

She encouraged the women to harness their collective power to drive change, not only in their local communities but also in the broader economic landscape of South Africa. 

The Manyano served as both a spiritual and strategic preparation, reminding the women of their invaluable contributions to the country's democracy and economic development.

Welcome Home Carnarvon High School Robotics Team

The Northern Cape Provincial Government, led by Premier, Dr. Zamani Saul, today officially welcomed home the Carnarvon High School Robotics Team. The Robotics Team represented South Africa at the International First Lego League in Morocco, from 19-20 May 2023.

We are proud of their achievement, as they have obtained position 33, out of a total of 66 competing teams from 50 countries. The coding and robotics programme is one of the ways through which we will be able to realise a modern, growing and successful Province.

As part of our commitment to uplift, develop and support our communities, the Provincial Government handed over R15 000 (R10 000 cheque plus a R5000 voucher) to each of the seven learners and R5 000 (vouchers) to the two educators.
