Deputy Minister of Small Business Developement, Dipuo Peters, joined by MEC Venus Blennies from the Ministry of Women, Youth, People with Disabilities, e-Government and Communication, hosted the Informal and Micro Enterprise Development Programme (IMEDP) today to handover equipment and machinery to informal business owners in Pampierstad, Northern Cape.

The ceremonial handover is a nationwide trajectory to accelerate the growth of informal and micro enterprises by improving their competitiveness and sustainability in becoming formal businesses in the mainstream economy.

Governmnent is committed to the needs of rural communities and pays special focus to young people and women as well as informal traders. 

The Deputy Minister hopes to see the equipment efficiently used going forward.

The Feedback Sessions In The Pixley Ka Seme District

Today marked the end of the feedback sessions in the Pixley Ka Seme District. Provincial Government is taking its Exco Outreach Programme to different towns across the Province, where Members of the Executive have interactive sessions with individual community members. The feedback sessions are aimed at addressing the general issues raised, different Departments are dealing with the individual matters. 

FEEDBACK;

Hopetown Youth Centre and Friends in Praise Choir both received R30 000 
An ambulance and Patient Transport will be designated for Hopetown
960 serviced sites to be made available 
150 houses to be built as part of the first phase of the housing project

Premier together with MEC Vosloo will return to Hopetown on the 15 June 2023 to hand over equipment and a cash donation of R10 000 each to 24 SMME’s.

The late Private P.J. Strydom  is part of the SANDF members that died in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MEC Limakatso Koloi conveyed a Message of Condolences and support on behalf of the Premier, Dr Zamani Saul and the Provincial Government.

The MEC accompanied by Chaplain and other members of the SANDF.

The first day of the two-day feedback session in the Pixley Ka Seme District concluded with over 50 SMMEs receiving cash donations and equipment to assist in growing their small businesses. 

These small business owners were part of the community members who interacted with the Executive Council during the Exco Outreach program which took place on 22 March.

The Department of Economic Development will provide business support to the SMME's to ensure that they grow.

The National Assembly Portfolio Committe Meeting at Sol Plaatjie Municipality

MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements  and  Traditional  Affairs Hon Bantley Vass, together with MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Hon Abraham Vosloo during the National Assembly Portfolio Committe Meeting at Sol Plaatjie Municipality from 28-31 March 2023.

In a meeting with DCoG on the State of Local Government Report (SOLG)  it was identified  that these Municipalities form part of the Sixty-Four (64) dysfunctional Municipalities  in the country.  Furthermore   Phokwane Local Municipality,  has been under Constitutional intervention for a number of years.

The Committee had previously virtual engagements on the state of these Municipalities and by the information reported in the SOLG Report  the status quo has not changed.

The Committee will look into the  following areas:

-Assess progress made since the last virtual engagements and appearance  before the Committee 
-Determine the support provided to Phokwane LM in terms of S139(5) Constitutional Intervention 
-Progress with the implementation of the District One Plan

Present in the Committee Meetings are:

-Office of the Auditor General
-SALGA
-Department of Cooperative Governance 
-National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership 
-Frances Baard District Municipality 
-Sol Plaatjie Local Municipality 
-Phokwane Local Municipality
