Premier, To Lead the Roll-out of the Food Relief Programme

The Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul, will tomorrow lead the roll out of the food relief programme in Platfontein, Kimberley. Dr Saul recently announced that as part of the lockdown directives, the Province will procure and distribute 47 700 food parcels to respond to the need of community members that will require relief during this time.

With the distribution of food parcels, awareness will also be raised with the community on the regulations of the lockdown and the protocols of the Coronavirus, Covid-19.

in abiding with the rules around public gatherings, the Premier accompanied by the MEC for Social Development, Ms Barbara Bartlett will meet with the 12 leaders representing the Xhu! and Kwe communities. Following this, food parcels will be delivered directly to the homes of the beneficiaries.

The food relief programme will further be rolled out to all five Districts in the Province.
