The Northern Cape Office of the Premier's Directorate called Office on the Status of Women has successfully launched the Sanitary Dignity Outreach Programme, with a hand-over at Retlameleng Special School in Galeshewe.
The hand-over of sanitary dignity packs took place on the morning of 10th September 2020 and was made possible by a collaboration between Absa Bank, Living Waters Community Wellness Agency and The Office of the Premier.
"The Coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the sanitary dignity programmes which were previously ongoing in the Province but the need to address menstrual health in society has become more important than ever" said Ms Laban, Manager in the Office on the Status of Women, as she was addressing the staff and pupils at the school.
The lockdown may have halted the attendance of schools but girls continued to get their menstrual cycles and with regulations currently on level 2, as they gradually return to school, sanitary health programmes will be aggressively rolled out to all the districts in the Province.
