Premier Dr ZamaniSaul officially opened the New Mental Health Hospital in Kimberley this morning, 30thSeptember 2019.
The event was attended by family members of patients currently being treated at the facility as well as members of the community who came to show their support and jubilation at the operationalization of the facility.

It is a new state of the art facility that will radically improve the quality of health care provided to communities, especially those who do not have access to quality health care such as the working class and the poor.

Premier Dr Saul states: ”It was a long and winding road full of pitfalls characterized by huge wastages of state resources. We commit that such will never be repeated in the Northern Cape. The facility cost R1.3 billion to complete but it has emerged as a truly remarkable and state-of-the-art healthcare facility, a symbol of transformation and must be a Centre of Excellence.”

The facility currently has 160 operational beds which have been successfully migrated from West-End Hospital without any incident and boasts 70 security personnel who have been appointed as part of an insourced service
