The Northern Cape Province held it’s annual opening of the Provincial House of Traditional Leaders on 28 March 2019 at Frances Baard District Municipality.
This occasion marks the Third Session of the Third House and was addressed by Premier Sylvia Lucas alongside Kgosi Pelonomi Toto (Chairperson of Northern Cape Provincial House of Traditional Leaders) and the MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA), Mr Bentley Vaas.
Premier Lucas remarked that great efforts have been made to ensure that traditional leadership has a voice and participates in local governance. She also remarked that the provincial government pledges to continue to grow a positive working relationship with these leaders in order to address the triple challenge of inequality, poverty and unemployment that affects rural communities under their jurisdiction.
