The Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms Sylvia Lucas, recently met with Ms Lizzy Staffa, who is one of the 24 finalists that made it in the Mrs South Africa competition. Ms Staffa who hails from Kimberley made it from 55 hopefuls to be part of the final 24 that will compete for the crown on 08 August 2014.
She shared with Ms Lucas her experience during the first phase of the competition and explained how it was both difficult but and also very informative and she learned a lot from other contestants. Ms Staffa’s focus will be on young married women, young women in tertiary institutions, women in small business and women that are in abusive relationships. Her priority will be to ensure that these women make us of the opportunities presented by South Africa. She stated that although she wants to win the crown; the opportunities that the platform has presented her with are enormous and she will make proper use of them. To this end an international hair brand (Diva Divine) has identified her to be the face of their brand in South Africa following in the footsteps of Bonang Mathebe.
Her humble message to young women in the province is to dream big and not to allow where you come from to determine your destiny. She said that she always set high standards and worked hard to achieve those standards.
Premier Sylvia Lucas commended Ms. Staffa for her achievement thus far and wished her all the best with the competition. She also made an appeal to the people of the Northern Cape to support Ms. Staffa during the competition and to please vote for her when we are required to do so.
