The Northern Cape Provincial Government wishes to express deep and sincere condolences to the family of Mandela, for the sad passing of our beloved Tata and Former President of the first democratic South Africa.
We do so as we join the millions of the people of the world in mourning, and at the same time celebrating the life of the Father of this great nation, South Africa.
The programme of mourning and celebrating the memory of this great “son of the soil”, is taking place in unison with the rest of the country, guided by the national protocol of government.
The themes for the programme of this week are:
- Prayer and Reflection.
- Celebrating the legacy of Madiba.
- Grieving the loss and Celebrating Life.
- Paying homage to the Icon and Father of the Nation.
- Preparing to bid our Icon and Father of the nation farewell
- And saying Farewell, Lala Ngoxolo Tata
The provincial memorial service will take place as follows:
Venue: Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre, in Kimberley.
Date: 11 December 2013
Time: 10h00 – 15h00.
Speakers will include the Premier of Northern Cape, Honourable Sylvia Lucas, Executive Council Members and Members of the Provincial Legislature.
This programme of Mandela memorial is running concurrently with the signing of condolence books in the different municipalities, as well as the condolence sites where people can go lay their flowers, cards and wreaths in memory of our beloved Father of the nation.
We are expecting people from all over the province from Namakwa region, ZF Mgcawu region, John Taolo Gaetsewe region, Pixley ka Seme region and people from all-over the Frances Baardt region.
We are inspired by the massive memorial service that was attended by thousands of our people on the 10 December, at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg. Many of the people from our own province made effort to attend this august event in memory of Tata Madiba.
Transport will be picking people up from various areas and points throughout the Frances Baardt region, from 08h00 on Wednesday morning, 11 DECEMBER 13.
