Typing Tricks - 1

  1. Delete an entire word Instead of deleting a single letter, pressing CTRL + BKSP will delete the entire word behind the cursor. This makes deleting text quicker if you screw up a whole word.
  2. Move Cursor to beginning of the next or previous word Moving the cursor around manually while typing is a great way to make your work take longer than it needs to. To speed of the process, move the cursor around with keyboard shortcuts. To move it to the beginning of the previous word, use CTRL + Left Arrow. To move it to the beginning of the next word, use CTRL + Right Arrow. In OS X you can accomplish the same using the Option key.
  3. Making sub and superscript text If you need to make sub or superscript text (think exponents for superscript), press CTRL + = for subscript and CTRL + SHIFT + = for superscript.

 

Email That Word Document

 

  1. Did you know you can send a Word document as an email.  That’s right, not just as an attachment but as an email.  Here’s how to do it.
  2. Make your word document and save it.
  3. Go to the “File” on the menu bar and select “send to” and the “Mail Recipient”
  4.  Above your word document you should now see an email tool bar that is full of icons that you are used to seeing in Outlook.  Just fill it out as you would to send any email.
  5. When you are done filling in the TO: line and the SUBJECT: line click "Send a copy"
  6. Note that your word document will be turned into an email automatically.  The recipients will not need to open it as an attachment or anything.  The size of the file will also be smaller which will help those who have full mailboxes.
