The Premier of the Northern Cape Province Ms Sylvia  Lucas,  Members of  her Executive Council and government officials will embark on a wide range of activities on Mandela Day 18 July 2013 to pay homage to the global icon of peace, human rights, and the international struggle for social justice, democracy and economic emancipation.

During the last Executive Council (EXCO) Visit (June 2013) to Hantam Municipality, the Executive Council took a decision that all departments must implement programmes on Madiba day to benefit the communities of the province and especially Fraserburg.

The Executive Council also paid a visit to the local Hospital in Fraserburg and decided that all sector departments must deploy resources to the hospital, as a collective kick-start, of the programme on 18 July.  Basically the activity would involve cleaning and donation of equipment that are needed at the hospital.  The structural upgrading of the hospital is of more medium to long term commitment between relevant sector departments.

The Premier calls on all the people of the province to go out and make a difference in the lives of our people. It is only through our collective efforts that can see us building sustainable communities.
